Single sided PCB is only printed circuit on one side of the substrate, also known as printed etching board. Etch resist is usually printed by screen printing technology, and the conductor pattern is formed by chemical etching to remove the exposed copper foil.
Typical material of single sided printed circuit board
This circuit board manufacturing method is generally used in low-cost, mass, and relatively less functional device. Most of the single-sided PCB is made from the lowest cost paper substrate, and the most popular paper based flame retardant phenolic resin XPC is used. It is a kind of laminates with high punching properties.
On the other hand, many materials can be used for single sided PCB according to its actual applications. For example, FR-4 is often seen in our home appliances, CEM-1 and FR-1 are often seen in the toys, aluminum substrate in LED lighting and polyimide in the flexible PCB etc.
Manufacturing process of single side circuit board
Generally, a highly automated production and conveyor belt printing and etching production line is adopted for mass production. The basic process is as follows.
Step 1, Saw or cut the substrate to the appropriate size of the plate.
Step 2, Put the laminate into the loader and send it to the production line.
Step 3, Clean the surface of laminate.
Step 4, Use UV curable anticorrosion ink for surface screen printing.
Step 5, Solidified anticorrosion ink.
Step 6, Etch exposed copper.
Step 7, Strip anticorrosion ink.
Step 8, Coat solder mask ink.
Step 9, Print component text.
Step 10, Drill or punch holes.
Step 11, Test open/short circuit
Step 12, Pack boards and make delivery.
The speed of the automatic printing and etching line conveyor is 35-45 ft/min. Mass production lines are equipped with on-line optical inspection, so that the final electrical open circuit short circuit test can be avoided.
In some process changes, the surface of the PCB conductor is insulated, only the pads are exposed, then the conductive paste is printed, the extra conductor is formed on the same side of the circuit board, and the double conductor layer is formed on the surface of a single layer.
Most metal core PCB consumer products generally use copper clad aluminum based materials, copper clad copper based material and iron etc. PCB made of these materials has no plated-through-hole, and the components are usually surface mounted. Q1 How do you pack the PCBs?
A PCBs are packed with Polyethylene air cushion film(vacuum plastic bags) per 20-25 pieces. Pearl cotton (Polyethylene foamed sheet) are put inside carton box. The hardness of carton box is KK grade(the highest hardness). Maximum gross weight for one carton is less than 12 kgs.
